Black Screen In Right Eye

2020-06-28, 0:36 AM

My explorer headset suddenly is not displaying anything in the right eye. I believe it could be a faulty headset. It is well past its warranty and they aren't for sale anymore, so I'm not quite sure what to do. Is there a way I could send it in to be repaired? I understand that it might cost me a little bit of money to get it repaired since it is not under warranty.

In case you are wondering, here is the troubleshooting process I went through:

I double checked that all headset and computer drivers were up to date.

I unplugged all other peripherals except the headset.

Each time I connected my headset, I connect the HDMI first, and then the USB cable. (I am not running it through and HDMI extender or adapter.)

Yes, my laptop is powerful enough to run it. (I have an RTX 2080 and a Core i9, with USB 3.0)

I updated windows to the most recent update.

I changed the headset setting to from 90Hz to 60Hz, and vice versa.

I restarted my computer.

I plugged the headset in to another Mixed Reality compatible computer (to check to see if it was a software issue) and got the same black screen in one eye.

I opened up the headset to verify all lcds and sensors were plugged in and connected snugly.

I followed the Microsoft recommended trouble shooting process.

I followed the troubleshooting processes found on this forum.
