What happened to my beloved Explorer!

2020-03-14, 23:33 PM

So i brought my Lenovo headset for playing Elite Dangerous and did so for a while with no issues what so ever it was just perfect!

Then today I connected it and when I run the game, or windows mixed reality set up, or Steam VR setup I get the same error.

Its kind of hard to explain but its as though the image is displaying out of sync. So say I was looking at a Square on the screen. When I stay still its fine. As soon as I move its like i can see 2 Squares if that makes sense. Its not jittery, its just showing like 2 images of the same thing almost. I have tried it on 2 Laptops, of which both ran fine a few months ago. I know I have done windows updates. All my drivers are up to date. Both Laptops are more than capable of running the headset and have done fine.

Is it faulty? Or something I am missing. I hope someone can help I have been at this for almost 7 hours tried everything I can think of!

Thanks

Matt

Do Lenovo respond to these forums?

I found a fix! Turns out it's a bug in the newest Nvidia drivers. Unfortunately, the most recent one which works is version 436.48 from October 2019. It can be found here https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/152007/en-us  (although you may have to download the DCH version from somewhere else if it doesn't let you install this one). It's not a perfect solution as then you don't have the latest nvidia driver for other games however if you're happy to revert back and forth between this driver and the latest one then you'll completely fix the issue you're describing. Hope this helps!
