LENOVO IdeaPad 5 15ARE05 CPU Temperature too high?

2021-07-22, 11:19 AM

Hi.

I have LENOVO IdeaPad 5 15ARE05 with 4800u and recently my CPU temp started to get really high.

I was unable to hold laptop how hot it was.

According to HWiNfO, my average temp is 92C with highest being 108c.

I dont have any settings to adjust the fan.

What do you recommend I do? I still have warranty.

Best regards and thank you in advance.

I would wait for them to reply. I don't want my tdp lowered :) I would just like to find a solution, even if it is opening it and cleaning everything with replacing thermal paste and so on.

Hi @LaMpiR

Apologies to know about experiencing such issue. You may want to check as well if the current BIOS version of your machine is the same as the recommended BIOS version uploaded on the support site. Use the machine serial number to load up the drivers. Go to Drivers and Software tab, click on the Manual Update tab. Look for the BIOS/UEFI driver and find the details or version then compare it with your current BIOS version.

Is this remarkably present after a recent Windows update? Perhaps it's worth a try to do a rollback to a previous version as discussed (and done) by fellow members in a not-that-old thread here.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
Dex

Re:LENOVO IdeaPad 5 15ARE05 CPU Temperature too high?

Hi.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I have the latest bios E7CN41WW available on the website.

I have updated my windows to win11. The thing is, the laptop is always vertical on my laptop stand and not I went to vacation did I notice this. I did an windows 11 update few days ago and I noticed that, but my previous backup was already deleted and I couldn't revert back to win10 after that.

I may have been caused by the update, but I have no way of knowing or reverting back to my old Win10.

When I am running vmware, it gets up to 100C.

Any more suggestions?

Hi @Dex_Lenovo

I have opened my csgo for a few minutes as I did many times before and first time that I have experienced stuttering during the game.

My temps went over 100c.

I have attached a .csv file which was take from HWiNFO64 with details like temperature, cpu usage and so on.

I had normal things running in the background like google drive, onedrive, kaspersky internet security. Nothing special.

p.s. I had to zip the csgo.csv file since it didn't want to upload it.

Re:LENOVO IdeaPad 5 15ARE05 CPU Temperature too high?

I have contacted Lenovo support and after a few software tricks which they have suggested, nothing worked and the latest suggestion was that I reset my laptop, which I really don't want to do.

Fan works and in Cinebench etc. you can hear it, but still doesn't cool properly. With higher cpu usage, fan is more active and loud, which means that everything is working, from software side as it should.

They also said that if I don't want to reset my laptop, they will not take it for repair.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with software, since the fan is starting to ramp up with higher cpu usage, like it always has. It is either too dirty or simply went bad, probably bad thermal paste.

Does anyone have any suggestion?
