310-15ikb - CRU is '*' for memory modules.

2018-01-07, 18:07 PM

For my Lenovo ideapad 310 15lkb, the CRU ID,in parts list, for RAM is *, what should that mean?

I have a vacant RAM slot, so If I add a RAM to it, how does it affect my warranty?

Mod's Edit: Additional information added to Subject line for clarity of issue.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

The * mark in the parts list you were viewing means that particular module has been tested and approved for use in your laptop.

For an additional reference, here is what a leading memory manufacturer recommends for your system.......

Adding additional memory will not void your existing warranty.  Although adding memory will require you to open your laptop, memory upgrades are permitted.

 Edit: Updated my reply.

shivipandey11, another Lenovo Moderator, zoltanthegypsy, point out to me a explanation which is used for the Thinkpad product line that would better explain the asterisk *  you are seeing in the CRU category.  Sorry for the mis-interpretation.

Here is that description.....
