Re: 510-15IKB Laptop (ideapad) shutdown without proper notification while battery is charged 50% or less

I am using  510-15IKB Laptop(ideapad) with windows 10 and it is only 4-5 months old laptop, it shut down when it is charge 50% or less during working on battery , while battery is only 20 days old because last battery performance was not good so company change the battry. So battery as old no issue but when i am using laptop on battery after  some drain it shut down the laptop. And after that shut down laptop take 4-5 time more in starting to normal starting.

During my conversion with support technician he tell me for windows recovery but it do not have any effect, then he tell me for calibration but during draining in calibration it also shut down at any percentage so it also not completed.

Now i am using this new laptop as a desktop due to issue because the work i do at time of shut down goes because it only stores in RAM.

Also its BIOS is updated and all recommended drivers are updated. Some times its battery only charged upto 90% while I put it on charge for 10hours. Also its performance is not relevent as it works sometime on full charged battery for 3hours and some time only 1hous while before 1 month it was 4:30 hours-  5hours on a full charged.

Hi there, Kamalgarg                -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

The air vents that keep things cool are mainly on the bottom so when it’s on the lap some of the air vents can get covered. This causes overheating and can shorten the life of the battery and components.

Also, your CPU / GPU might be overheating and it's throttling down - this would cause your CPU / GPU to operate in a low frequency, thus giving you low FPS. Try to monitor your CPU by using CoreTemp and your GPU by using GPU Shark orAfterburner.

If you get high temperatures, you can try to decrease the heat by:

  1. Using a good quality cooling pad that runs on high RPM or a better cooling in your room.
  2. Replacing the stock Thermal Interface Material with a good quality TIM likeNoctua NT-H1Tuniq TX-4, or Artic Silver 5.

Update us how it goes.
