Flex 4 Screen Issue

Hello Lenovo forums,

I just got my Flex 4 1480 as a refurb from Newegg. I love it...except for one problem. Whenever I put the screen at certain tilt levels or try to put it into tablet mode, the screen shuts off. More accurately, the screen backlight shuts off (I can see content on the screen under direct light) and doesn't come back on until either I pass through the "blind spot" or close and open the lid. Is there a random trick to try to see if it fixes the issue? Or am I going to have to send it back to NewEgg to get it repaired? For reference, here is a video I just took of the problem: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0duc0kp-OONdDVTVDVmVXlFV00

Re: Flex 4 Screen Issue

Hi twtech ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Seems that you need to send it for repair.

Changes on the lid angle most likely creates some stress on the LCD cable /display assembly.

It most likely be a mechanical hardware issue like failed contact or troubles with the cable /impinged etc.

I would not recommend disassembly to check to avoid void some agreements you have with Newegg.

Hope this help you decide how to proceed.

Regards

Re: Flex 4 Screen Issue

Thanks for replying. I was already thinking that might be the issue, I just wanted to see if there was anything I could try before sending it in for repair. Thanks for confirming for me.

Re: Flex 4 Screen Issue

Hi twtech ,

I believe that you just need a confirmation too.

Even if it was a sensor issue or a LCD cable , as long as warranty still ok , then it would be better to either call in the store or technical support for service since it still is a hardware warranty covered issue.

Please don't hesitate to visit our community at anytime.

Regards

Re: Flex 4 Screen Issue

Ok, so I can still get Lenovo support after it has been refurbished by Newegg? I'm waiting to talk to Newegg support, but if I can get official Lenovo warranty support that would probably be better.

Re: Flex 4 Screen Issue

Hi twtech ,

Greetings.

You can check your warranty from here and using your serial number to call technical support (877-453-6686 24 hours/day 7 days/week / chat on business hours) to check available option for repair.

Compare both the store's and Lenovo's repair option whichever would be more convenient for you.

Regards
