Ideapad 300-14IBR - Touchpad not working

2017-02-15, 23:30 PM

I have this problem with an ideapad that was handed down to me for repair. The touchpad doesn't work. It came with Win 10 preinstalled, and also the ELAN driver.

When I try to use the touchpad, it does nothing. The clic button works, so if I disable the touchpad with the Fn key, it disables it (that way I know it's not disabled when I try to use it). Using a USB mouse works just fine. I did everything I found in the forum: reinstalling windows, the drivers, using older drivers, updating the OS, changing sensibility options and so on, but nothing seems to work.

I'm pretty desperate, since the phone assistance didn't solve my problem either. So, help me guys, please?

Hi dami2024ue,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community!

It might be worth going into Device Manager and locating the touchpad driver, uninstall it, reboot your device and let Windows reinstall it for you. Should that not work, and the fact you've attempted various ways to try and fix it, then it may be down to a hardware fault with the touchpad itself and would be best to contact Lenovo to get it sent in for repair.

Let us know how you get on!

It didn't work, that's the first thing I tried. The tech support says it's not in warranty, so I can't send it for repair. That's why I'm asking here for help. I tried to boot from an external drive, to see if it works with another OS, but I get a message that says the usb booting is disabled! (and I can't access the BIOS setup, because I don't know how).
