Ideapad 500 not booting

My Ideapad 500 80K4 worked perfectly and suddenly the screen went black and I cannot reboot. The Lenovo logo appears and then it goes black. Any ideas?

Hi Graffiti, 

Welcome to the community, happy to have you here.

Lets start off by resetting the BIOS settings. Please make sure that the system is turned off. Please press the Novo Button. The Novo Button is going to be a pinhole button for the Ideapad 500, it is going to be on the left side right before the USB ports. You need a small paper clip for this. The system should power on after you press the button. On the Novo Menu, select BIOS setup and press Enter on the keyboard. Once inside the BIOS check if the Hard Disk is detected, then press FN + F9 to load BIOS defaults and select Yes. Then press FN+F10 to save changes and exit. 

If you get any errors or issue at this point and the system is still under warranty then please get in touch with Lenovo Warranty Support in your region.

Thanks so much. I tried your suggestion. The computer thereafter booted up with the Lenovo logo and went back to a black screen with rolling circle. The laptop connected to the internet - I can see it on my Teamviewer. Any other suggestions?

Addition to Jamdy, Try re-seating the HDD modules & check if issue still persist or not. Also, Pull CMOS battery and wait - 1min. Push power button with everything unplugged to discharge.

Hi, 

 

That's interesting, so windows is able to load/boot but seems to be stuck on a process. Are you able to connect to the system using teamviewer? If yes, try to restart the system in safemode using teamviewer. Once inside windows try to do a clean boot.
