Ideapad 510s-13IKB loud fan

2017-04-22, 18:39 PM

Hi all,

recently I bought a new notebook and the fan is running constantly on high rpm.

It's kind of frustrating.

I've read that the issue can be solved by updating the BIOS driver. Done.

But sadly the fan is as loud as it was previously.

Please help me!

Thanks :)

you download the file and place it into the config Directory of notebook fan control application (download the application here https://github.com/hirschmann/nbfc/releases).
Try first to download and install the application and search the config for Lenovo Ideapad 501s. I think the author auf the application has already included my config file in the Installation package.

try download this third party fan controller;
https://github.com/hirschmann/nbfc/releases

so far no profile for 510, only for 500. may try that, but i dont know it'll work or not.
anyway, can build your own profile.

Hi,

I've added a config file for notebook fan control for the Ideapad 510s that solves the problem for me:

https://github.com/hirschmann/nbfc/blob/master/Configs/Lenovo%20Ideapad%20510s.xml

Regards,

Bodo

Could you explain how to use the config file? A bit of a novice, so any advice would be appreciated. The Fan is driving me crazy!

This third party program can modify the fan speed, thank you for the solution.

BUT I have to say this is not a proper solution. Messing with the cooling is not acceptable in my opinion, because it does no good to the processor. I have contacted the local Lenovo service center, they said that my laptop is as loud as the others so there is nothing they could do about it.

My question is: can Lenovo offer a reasonable solution? If my laptop is as loud as the others, then it should be a type-fault.

I like this laptop, but this noise drives me mad. Currently my CPU and GPU percentage is 2%, the laptop is sitting on a pack of frozen peas and this guy is making noises like a helicopter, an apache helicopter. Next time I'll by a laptop I should take it for a test drive, like we do with old, rusty, used cars?

Im not a techy, I hope my questions aren’t too simplistic...

I’ve downloaded the nbfc-1.5.0 zip file, my questions are:

1. How do I install the package for Win 10?

2. Should the Config file only contain the XML file for the laptop in question?

3. Can the package be uninstalled if needed, if so how is that done?
