Ideapad 700-15ISK touchpad not working/not showing up in device manager

2016-08-04, 10:20 AM

bought an Ideapad 700-15ISK with Win10 64bit, i5-6300HQ 2 weeks ago.

Touchpad was not working properly (sometimes froze until the laptop was rebooted), so I tried to update the driver, but then it stopped working alltogether. Tried an older driver, but still nothing.

Updated the BIOS and tried again. Nothing.

When I go to Settings/Devices/Mouse&Touchpad/Additional Options it tells me:

"Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver"

and in the Mouse Properties, in the ELAN tab it does not show a device at all. (Driver version ELAN Touchpad

In Computer Management/Device Manager there is only my USB Mouse under Pointing devices, but I can see an unknown device under "Other devices" with the path ROOT\SCSIADAPTER\0000.

Hope I gave all the relevant information for now.

How can I get my touchpad to work again?

Thank you very much for your help in advance!
