Lenovo Edge 2 screen goes dark

2016-10-09, 20:19 PM

Hello,

My Lenovo Edge 2 laptop goes to a dark blue/black screen with no warning.  There is nothing I can do then except for press the on/off button for several seconds to make the screen go black completely and shut off.  Then I restart by pushing the on/off button.  Then it will work for a few minutes or a few hours.

Any help wil be appreciated!

Keith

Hi there, Keith            -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can also start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.

Update us how it goes.

My Edge 2 also has the same problem. I have not been able to solve the problem by holding the power button. The battery is built in. I have to save constantly after every sentence just because I have no idea when the issue is going to happen. I've gone hours to just minute between it happening. Microsoft suggest updating the bios from the logs. I can't find an update for the Edge 2 bios.

In response to customer reports of displays or screens turning off on Lenovo systems while in use and running on battery power, Lenovo has released a solution via update to the Intel Management Engine Firmware, v.11.0.0.1176.

The Intel ME Firmware has been approved for the following models:

ideapad 300S-14ISK, ideapad 500S-14ISK

Lenovo Edge 2-1580

Lenovo Flex 3-1480, Flex 3-1580,

Yoga 500-14ISK, Yoga 500-15ISK

The Intel ME Firmware can be downloaded here:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds105001

If the solution provided by Lenovo does not resolve the issue for you, other customers report that a workaround provided by customer MattDN93 also resolves the issue. More information about the workaround can be found here:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/Flex-3-screen-turns-off-when-working-on...

Update us how it goes.

Hi,
I've been having the same problem with my laptop. I downloaded and installed the ME firmware and my laptop was fine for a few days but it is again displaying a black screen on its own, forcing me to shut it off with the power button.
When I first bought it I noticed the laptop screen wouldn't display anything (black screen) after being on sleep mode, or closing the laptop, but I didn't think anything of it. Later the screen display would just turn black while in use and I had to shut it off with the power button.
I'll be downloading the Firmware once more and see if that helps.
Please let me know if there is another update out there that I am not aware of.
Thanks
