Lenovo Flex 3 1570 80JM Keyboard issue.

Keyboard is turning on and off when in normal laptop mode. the switching on and off is as though laptop is switching to tablet mode/ being turned. I think it may be loose keyboard wires. This started recently and can't relate to any software change or incident to system. Keyboard works fine when raising the laptop with a thumb while on table or plain surface.

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

As how it was in the video , seems changing position allows the keyboard to work as the sides are lifted up .

Try also to notice how the backlight would go on / off as both data and backlight keyboard . 

 

As the keyboard is included on the top cover , you may try reseating the mylar cable from beneath and checking possible loose or impinge cables (page 55) if you have the tools and skills but best that you call in technical support for recommended service. 

 

As you have suspected , the moment that you raise the laptop is the same as pushing the contact of the base pressing it to the keyboard.

Thanks for quick response.

Yes, keyboard backlight is turned on, as there is no way to know if the keyboard is on/off - disabled, it help me to identify.

My laptop is still in warranty, I have skill and tools and definitely would try this as long as it would not void warrenty (5 more months left). 

Chat support rep suggests to send in for repair..  will decide..

As long as there is no damage during the reseating and checking the cables then it would not void the warranty but best that you inform tech support so that they would have it documented on the case.

 

As for me , I would rather have it send out for further checking as the it may also be the actual port that connects to the systemboard and that entire cover and keyboard would be replaced as needed.
