There is a lot of fan noise. My laptop is just 10days old.
Should I have to replace the laptop?
Hey, I'm having the same issue and I just got the laptop last week. Though, I checked online and there are quite a few updates available including a BIOS one. Lenovo auto update software seems pretty **bleep**, says no updates available but they are. I'll install them manually and if they fix this problem , I'll let you know.
i tried doing that. There is no quite mode apparently in Bios.
I wish I heard my fan. Hardly ever hear it other than at boot.
I'm having the same issue with my brand new flex 5. I upgraded the Bios as well and enabled "Quiet Mode" but it made no difference. It's pretty annoying that the fan just spins up and down randomly.
Any idea Lenovo?
Generally, the fan spins up and down to cool the processor once it hits a certain temperature. The key is finding out what's taxing the processor. For me, certain websites have bad code that, in Chrome, causes the fan to race (I have a 910 and a 920.. it's the same on both). I also get a racing fan at boot as everything loads. Once that's done, it settles down unless there's a Windows Update or virus scan.
Launch task manager when the fan is running high and see what's consuming your resources.
And, trust me, you want that fan running. The fan rarely ran in my i7 Dell laptop and I cooked three motherboards before parting it out on eBay and getting the 910.
As for my best way in fixing the fan noise issue, change your laptop's max processor speed output to 85% and should get rid of most of the noise and will basically only be a problem if you plan on video editing on the go.
I know others will also say 'undervolting', but for me, I've had a much better experience with reducing max output.
My laptop is less than a week old. The fan revs up when I play Words With Friends, which doesn't seem like a very "demanding" website. If I close out of WWF, the fan quiets down. I'm wondering if this is a problem I should try to fix.
also experience the same problem but mine also got issue with black screen flickering. Does anyone has solution to this issue? already try all possible solution when searching but didnt help.
Already contact support in Indoensia, but they say they cannot help anything with that product in my country. Could you please advise what must i do?
