Lenovo IdeaPad 500s Wifi Connectivity Problems

[ Edited ]

Hello all, I recently bought my Lenovo Ideapad 500s and I am experiencing wifi problems. The wifi would frequently disconnect and say that my network is limited. I would usually disconnect and reconnect and that solves my problem. I am wondering if there is a way to fix this wifi problem instead of continueously reconnecting. If you need any further information, please contact me.

Edit- Does anyone know a way to remove the pop-up for whenever I use capslock?

Thanks.

*Sorry mod, I'm new to the lenovo fourms so I was not aware of that.*

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 500s Wifi Connectivity Problems

Hi there, Andrew -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

I solved the problem by selecting Maximum Performance in the Power Options->Advanced Settings->Wireless Adapter Settings and unchecking the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" setting in the Power Management tab for the Wireless Adapter in Device Manager.

Also, you may try updating the Wi-Fi drivers.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 500s Wifi Connectivity Problems

Thanks, I updated the driver 3 hours ago and the wifi hasn't disconnected since. So far so good.

Do you know how to get rid of the caplock pop-up on my lenovo? It's getting a bit annoying. And last problem I have is sometimes having the computer not waking from sleep. Do you have a solution for that?

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 500s Wifi Connectivity Problems

Great that all goes well.

These keyboard status icons come from On Screen Display.

To turn it on or off:

  1.  right-click on desktop -> screen resolution
  2.  Click on "advanced settings"
  3.  Click on the "On Screen Display" tab
  4.  Uncheck the box "Enabled on-screen display"

It sounds like the GPU is failing to wake. Are you up-to-date with your Intel drivers? First check Lenovo's latest, and if that doesn't work, try the Intel drivers using the Intel Update Utility:

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect

Installing the new Graphics driver will solve the "Unable to wake from Sleep Problem."

Update us how it goes.

Thanks for the reply.

When I right-clicked the desktop, I could not find the screen resolution option so I managed to get to display settings. I went to advanced settings but could not seem to find the On Screen Display tab.

When I tried to install the Graphics driver via the link you sent me, it sent me a link:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005469.html

I'm not entirely sure if it actually downloaded. As for the VGA driver, I have not downloaded it and will do it after this update.

EDIT: I attempted to download the VGA driver you sent me and it gave me the same error as the Graphics Driver.

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 500s Wifi Connectivity Problems

This will act as a bump and an update on my situation.

I never found how to disable the Caplock Pop-up but I don't really mind.

As for the "Computer not waking up for sleep problem," all was well until Windows decided to update and broke everything. Before the Windows update, the computer would wake up from sleep everytime until one day, Windows updated my computer and my computer wouldn't wake up anymore.

Anyone know how to fix this?

What's DOS?
