Lenovo Ideapad 320 14ISK RAM upgrade compatibility

I've read that the RAM on my laptop can only run 2133Mhz speed. But can I install 2400Mhz RAM? will it be compatible? It doesn't matter if the RAM speed is decreased to 2133Mhz, what I worry about is the BSOD.

Warm regards,

Andre

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Yes, the 2400 MHz memory will work.  The 2400 MHz module will just operate at the slower 2133 MHz speed.

For additional reference,  here is one leading memory manufacturer that offers 2400 MHz memory for your model and guarantees compatibility.

When doing memory upgrades I personally avoid any memory that is sold as "value" ram.  The cheaper memory isn't always trouble-free.

Thanks for the answer, now I do not hesitate to upgrade. But the next question is why CPU-Z shows my RAM is dual-channel?

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 320 14ISK RAM upgrade compatibility

Mostly likely reason is CPU-Z is basing its results on the chipset or processor used in your system.  That same chipset or processor when used in a desktop tower for example would truly support dual channel with its additional memory slots.
