I just got this new lenovo Ideapad 110 and its only 4days old. Plugged it in to charge the battery and started noticing the screen going bright and then dim intermitently. Upon closer look I noticed the battery charging connection icon turning off and on repeatedly every second was the cause of the screen flicker. What could be the problem??? Its a brand new laptop I'm not expecting to be having battery or charger issues.
In essence the laptop is changing between charging and not charging rapidly.
I would appreciate any help on this.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
I was thinking of loose contact points in the DC/power ports initially.
Try to wiggle the charger cable if it would easily get loose.
Using a drained battery (lower than 20% charge) check if the charger would have a hard time charging it for 2-3 hours.
This can be checked without turning on the laptop and simply observe the battery LED indicator from blinking amber as it supposes to go to solid white.
Try going to the BIOS (FN + F2 on restart) and see if there is also flickering.
If the same issue in the BIOS and that charging would also fail or cable seems loose, then it would be best to call in technical support or the store and report this.
Update us how it goes.

The issue is resolved or to better put it, its not occuring again. One thing I failed to mention earlier as I thought it was of no consequence was the actual source of the power to the laptop.
When this issue occured I was using a standby electrical generator, but on connecting back to the electric grid, the issue stopped happening and the battery charged as normal with no screen flicker or fluctations between charging/Not-charging.
This behaviour is really strange and is only peculiar to my new Lenovo. My older laptops are ok switching between the standby generator and the electric grid.
Thanks for your input spidey101 on the matter. I do appreciate.
