Re: Lenovo ideapad 310 - 15ikb | external screen not working

I'd like to know the MTM from under your laptop please.

But, if I were to shoot from the hip, I'd suggest

1) Replaceing the cable you're using to connect to your external display. I know, that's a traditional "did you plug it in" response, but I'd still take a crack at it.

2) Attempt to connect to another monitor.

3) With the HDMI cable still plugged in, reboot your system.

4) Plug in the HDMI cable with the NVIDIA program interface program running.

5) Uninstall the NVIDIA Drive Completly. Don't fret. Windows 10 has a Generic Display Driver ready to take over. You won't screw anything up.

                    1--Make a system restore point

2--Actually go make a system restore point

4--Download this: (but make sure I've got the right MTM. Eaasy enough to use the Detect My Product Tool: http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/300-Series/310-15IKB/80TV/00WKUS/dow...

                   4--Follow the instructions here: https://www.custompcreview.com/articles/guides/guide-properly-remove-nvidia-amd-ati-gpu-drivers/1997...

5--Go to the newly used Microsoft Generic Display Driver. Select Update Driver, Browse to the directory your NVIDIA Driver is at, tell it to look there, ENJOY...

I am not familiar with the 310-15IKB, but the "Hardware Maintenance Manual" for this laptop shows that the F10 key toggles the external screen on and off.  Have you tried pressing that key?

Note: if you entered the BIOS and changed "HotKey Mode" from "Enabled" to "Disabled", you will need to press FN+F10 to toggle the external screen (instead of pressing F10 by itself).

The "Hardware Maintenance Manual" for your laptop can be downloaded from this web site.  Scroll to the bottom of this page and click "Manuals" in the "Support" column.

The F10 key thing worked for me -- I am replacing my "old" ThinkPad E530 with an ideapad 310, and Windows 7 with Windows 10 -- SO many differences!
