Lenovo ideapad 500-15isk actual gaming specs

2017-07-21, 15:58 PM

I have a Lenovo Ideapad 500-15ISK with intel core i5-6200U cpu and 8gb ram with RX M360 4gb graphics, just wanted to state my frame rates per second and wanted to inquire whether I am getting lower performance than the others,

NOTE: FPS were measured with the wall adapter plugged in and full performance mode

Name                                        FPS                     Settings

Assassin's Creed IV:               20-30                1080x1980 high

Payday 2:                                 25-45                1280x720 moderate

Far cry Primal:                         15-30                1366x768 high

Should such low FPS be expected? If not, recommended solutions?

I have a 500-15ISK with the Intel i7-6500U processor, but the graphics processor is the same as yours.  However, I don't use my 500-15ISK for gaming.  The following web site is a useful resource for reviews of laptops:

https://www.notebookcheck.net/

If you use their search box, you can find reviews of the 500-15ISK, both on their web site, and on external web sites.  They have a review of the i7 version; this one:

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-IdeaPad-500-15ISK-Notebook-Review.166579.0.html

If you search that page for the string "Gaming Performance" (without the quotes), you will find this text:

To achieve playable frame rates on the IdeaPad, the user will have to be happy with the HD resolution (1366x768 pixels) and low to occasional medium quality settings. However, this does not apply to all games. Performance-driven tracks such as "Hitman" or "XCom 2" never accomplish sufficiently high frame rates. The screen's native resolution (Full HD) can at most be utilized for a handful of games, such as "Counter Strike: GO".

Despite its relatively high price, the IdeaPad does not offer any more gaming power than some laptops that are priced  300 to 400 Euros (~$336 to ~$448) less. This is also due to the comparatively weak GPU. Our comparison diagram illustrates that the frame rates produced by the IdeaPad are just over those of a GeForce 920M laptop. Corresponding devices are already sold with a starting price of 500 Euros (~$561). Even a laptop like Acer Aspire V5-591G is available for just 800 Euros (~$897), and thanks to its GeForce GTX 950M, it offers a much higher gaming performance than the IdeaPad.
