Stylus for Lenovo Flex 6 11"

2018-06-27, 22:14 PM

I was looking for a light laptop to grade papers using a stylus. I thought that the Lenovo Flex 6 11" fit the bill, and as per the website instructions, I bought it and the Lenovo Active Pen. After lots of time on the phone with customer support, it turns out that the active pen is only compatible with the Lenovo Flex 6 14" and not the 11". I'm crushed. I don't want a bigger laptop. I need to know, is it compatible with the Bamboo ink stylus, is there some other stylus out  there on the market?  I was hoping to mark up papers on Adobe Acrobat Reader with a stylus. Help!!

So the easiest thing for me to do at this point was to go get a Bamboo sytlus and try it on my Flex 6 11". The answer is that it doesn't work. Now I have to return the computer, the lenovo active pen and the bamboo stylus. I'm pretty miffed at this point because if the Lenovo website offers the stylus as a compliment to the Flex 6 11" and it is not in fact compatible, that's misadvertising and in my case, I've wasted a pile of hours trying to figure this all out as a result. There doesn't seem to be any acknowledgement of this from the Lenovo end. Anyway, to recap, the Lenovo 6 11" does not work with a active pen or smart stylus, but the 14" is supposed to, this for reasons not clear to me.

I have:  Flex 6 11 IGM from Walmart

I need:  Active pen/stylus

What I have tried:

  1.  BlackWeb active stylus - has built in battery and usb for charging.  This is not really a true active stylus, it has the traditional erasure style pointer on one end and a thin stylus on the other.  It does not need pairing, but the active part makes the stylus side react to the touch screen.  But since this device does not have to be paired it is not recognized as a pen device on the computer.
  2. Lenovo Active Pen 1 - Does not seem to work or be recognized on this machine

What I will try next:

  1. 3rd party active stylus with Bluetooth connection

Why I need:

Certain Windows apps need a real active stylus to be pair or recognized.  A passive or semi-active stylus will not work with these apps / programs.

Any comments???

Yeah so thia happened to me to... The Lenovo Flez 11" is incompatible with any and all smart pens, ir's only the Lenovo flex 14" that works with the pens. I had to return the flex and I got a yoga 720 instead because I needed something lighter than the flex 14". It's really confusing.. I told them that they should clarify what's compatible with what because even thwir website suggests that the flex 11" is smart pen compatible.

Hi rob-fed, Welcome to the Community Forums. Based on the Specifications https://lnv.gy/2nRzivJ for this model, it does not come with active pen and only has 10-point Multi-touch screen. It appears that the LCD does not have a digitizer capable in supporting Active Pens. Reggie_Lenovo

Hi Reggie, Thanks for confirming the hardware capabilities of my laptop. Will probably return this computer, spend additional money to get something better.
