Re: flex 2 14 keyboard not working, some keys

I know i'm very late to the party here, but i've found out the solution to this.

I've recently experienced the problem myself. Either you or someone else has put the wrong screw in the wrong hole on the bottom. The center screw hole sits directly below the keyboard connector. If a screw that is too long is put into this hole, it crimps down on the connector and causes a bad connection (the line for the 3edc keys.

This worked for me, it may not work for everyone. You may need a new keyboard, but I was able to remedy this by removing the center screw, removing the keyboard, and gently prying back the black tape at the bottom of the keyboard connector. You will see a small circular dent in the keyboard connector at the bottom. As long as it hasnt peirced you should be able to do the following. Once you've done this, flatten out the little dent in the connector created by the screw from the sticky side. Dont put the tape back, carefully reconnect the keyboard and clip back in. Don't put that center screw back unless you can find a shorter one.

If that doesnt work, it's new keyboard time

Re: flex 2 14 keyboard not working, some keys

Hi,

I had this same problem with my Lenovo Flex 2 15D.  Select keys were not working (Backspace, \, and Enter in particular). I installed a brand new keyboard and it worked fine for 1 day. Then the same keys quit working. Then I found this post and followed the instructions.

1: Remove the AC adapter plug.

2: Remove the battery.

3: Press the power button for about 30 seconds. This will clear the capacitors.

4: Insert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

5: Press the power button.

When I booted back up, the battery icon in the system tray has an "x" through it with a plug next to it.  If I hover over the icon, it says "255% available (plugged in)"  If I click on the icon, it says "No battery present." If I go to the battery settings, it says it is at 100%.

I did see the recommendation about updating the BIOS, however the BIOS was only available for Windows 7 or Windows 8. I have Windows 10.  I'd have to do a factory restore to update the BIOS.

Please advise.  Thanks.

UPDATE:  The keyboard problem doesn't appear to be fixed. All the keys worked when I booted up, but then after a while the same few keys quit working.  When I booted up the next day, it was the same thing: All the keys initially worked fine, but then after a while, some keys would quit working.
