Heating while charging and batery drain problem

I have an IdeaPad Gaming 3 15IAH7 Laptop - Type 82S9 with the following problems:

1) When it is charging with the cover close, the temperature goes up to abnormal values (it is too hot, that I'm not able to touch it).
2) When I manualy put it in sleep mode, the batery drains too fast (with the same speed as when I'm using it).

Hope you can help me because I'm scared that this can reduce the life time of my hardware.

Re:Heating while charging and batery drain problem

Greetings @alexao.

Thanks for posting in our community.

Sorry to read that you are having multiple issues with your laptop and I will do my best to help you with those concerns. Battery life is an estimated maximum. Actual battery life may vary based on many factors, including screen brightness, active applications, features, power management settings, battery age and conditioning and other customer preferences.

For the steps on how to extend the battery life, we suggest for you to apply the steps provided in this link https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/es/en/solutions/ht069687-easy-ways-to-extend-your-battery-life-ideapadlenovothinkpad-laptops. Once done, observe your system afterwards.

As for the issue with the overheating when the charger is plugged in, please make sure that your system has the latest BIOS and driver updates using Lenovo Vantage app. Here's a link that contains a short clip on how to do it.

In addition, check if there are any pending Windows Updates (including optional updates) that needs to be installed. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > click on Check for updates then restart your machine afterwards.

Update us how things go.

Re:Heating while charging and batery drain problem

Hi there, alexao.

Good day! I hope that you're doing well. I just want to make a quick follow-up regarding the issue that you posted here in our community. Are you still having the same problem even after performing the troubleshooting steps that I previously shared? If yes, I strongly suggest for you to reach out with the Technical Support Team (enter the machine's first 4 characters of MTM example: 82YQ) in your region to inquire for repair options. You may also bring the machine to one of the service centers in your area and have them physically check your laptop. To find the nearest one, kindly use this link: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/solutions/ht104448-how-to-locate-a-repair-center-or-service-provider

Best regards,
