Welcome to Lenovo Community laithlh,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing with your Ideapad Flex 5. Have you connected any external devices recently? Sometimes, the connection of certain peripherals might trigger mode changes.

To disable the tablet mode on your Lenovo laptop, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Start button and select Settings.
  2. In the Settings window, select System.
  3. From the left pane, select Tablet.
  4. Under the "When I sign in" section, select Use desktop mode.

This should prevent your laptop from automatically switching to tablet mode. If the issue persists, I recommend updating your system drivers using the Lenovo Vantage app.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards,

Hassen_Lenovo

Hi laithlh,

I apologize for the confusion. In Windows 11, the tablet mode setting has been moved. Here's how you can access it:

  1. Click on the Start button and select Settings.
  2. In the Settings window, select System.
  3. From the left pane, select Input.
  4. Under the Touch keyboard section, you will find the option to change the mode.

If you still can't find it, it's possible that your system needs an update. You can use the Lenovo Vantage app to update your system drivers.

If the issue persists, please don't hesitate to ask for further assistance.

Best regards,

Hassen_Lenovo

Hi laithlh,

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having trouble. Could you confirm if you've checked the Tablet Mode settings directly within the Windows 11 Action Center? Swipe in from the right edge of the screen or select the Action Center icon in the taskbar, and look for the Tablet Mode tile. Ensure it is turned off. Additionally, please press Win + R, type "winver," and press Enter. Tell me what the Windows full version number displayed is (e.g., 22H2, 21H2).

In certain Windows 11 builds, alternatively, press Win + I to open Settings, navigate to "Bluetooth & devices," choose "Touch" from the left pane, and explore options related to Tablet Mode behavior, such as "Optimize for touch input" or "Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode."

Best regards,

Hassen_Lenovo

Re:How do I turn off tablet mode on my ideapad flex 5 lenovo laptop ( windows 11 )

I tried to follow these directions and each time I could not find anything related to the word Tablet. My keyboard and trackpad are not working all of a sudden. What can I do? Please do not respond with a solution that involved typing because I CANNOT TYPE.

Hi SteveLenovoLeno,

Thank you for reaching out to the Lenovo Community. I understand how frustrating it can be when your keyboard and trackpad are not working, especially when trying to resolve an issue with tablet mode.

Since you cannot type, let's focus on solutions that do not require keyboard input:

  1. Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve issues with peripherals. You can do this by pressing and holding the power button until the laptop shuts down, then press the power button again to turn it back on.

  2. Check the Action Center: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen or click the Action Center icon in the taskbar. Look for the Tablet Mode tile and ensure it is turned off.

  3. Use an External Mouse: If you have an external USB mouse, connect it to your laptop. This can help you navigate through the settings without relying on the trackpad.

  4. Access Settings via Touchscreen: If your laptop has a touchscreen, you can use it to navigate through the settings:

    • Open the Start menu and select Settings.
    • Go to System > Bluetooth & devices > Touch.
    • Look for options related to Tablet Mode behavior, such as "Optimize for touch input" or "Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode."
  5. Lenovo Vantage App: If you can access the Lenovo Vantage app, use it to check for system updates and driver updates. This can sometimes resolve issues with hardware components. You can download it here.

  6. External Keyboard: If you have access to an external USB keyboard, connect it to your laptop. This can help you type and navigate through the settings.

If you have need or are interested Lenovo is currently running a surplus parts sale in North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, a lot of parts are offered at heavily discounted prices.
Visit the Lenovo Parts Clearance site to see the offerings.

Best regards,
