Re:How to disable backlit keyboard on startup?

Hi MRocha01,

Regarding the screen flickering issue, it's positive news that the lines have disappeared. Sometimes, these problems can indeed be temporary glitches. However, it's advisable to keep an eye on your laptop's performance for a little while, just to be sure.

As for the Lenovo Vantage app, it appears that the option to disable the automatic activation of the backlit keyboard on startup might not be available in your specific laptop model. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Best regards,

Hassen_Lenovo

How to disable backlit keyboard on startup?

Re:How to disable backlit keyboard on startup?

Welcome to Lenovo Community MRocha01,

I apologize. To disable the backlit keyboard on startup, you can try the following steps:

  1. Press the Windows key + X on your keyboard and select "Device Manager" from the menu.
  2. In the Device Manager window, expand the "Keyboards" category.
  3. Right-click on your backlit keyboard device and select "Properties."
  4. In the Properties window, go to the "Driver" tab.
  5. Click on the "Disable" button to disable the device.

Lenovo Vantage is a convenient application that enables you to customize various settings on your Lenovo laptop. Within Lenovo Vantage, navigate to the 'Hardware Settings' tab, where you can find options related to your laptop's hardware configurations. Look for the keyboard-related settings; you should find an option to control the backlight behavior, such as 'Keyboard Backlight On Startup.' Disable or uncheck this option. After making the necessary changes, save your settings and exit Lenovo Vantage.

If this does not help, there might not be a direct option to disable the automatic activation of the backlit keyboard on startup. This feature enhances the user experience, especially in low-light environments. Having the keyboard backlight turn on automatically at startup allows users to immediately see the keys and use the laptop comfortably without having to manually enable the backlight every time the system starts. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Best regards,

Hassen_Lenovo

Re:How to disable backlit keyboard on startup?

I still didn't find that feature, but I did a hardware scan there and now, my screen has two missing pixels lines in my screen, after I did the hardware scan the lines appeared! One line can't be seen on white screen (color blue, on the left side of my screen), and the one horizontally can be seen on any color... The laptop is brand new, 2weeks old, and already getting problems.... What should I do

I just found out the name is screen flickering, but the lines disappeared, should I be worried for upcoming events? I took a picture of it. In the lenovo vantage app, I can't find that option..The only things I can see related to keyboard are on the photo attached, am I on the right place?

Re:How to disable backlit keyboard on startup?

Hi @Hassen_Lenovo, I have the same issue - everytime I start my laptop, the keyboard backlight is set to Automatic. Will you add in the Lenovo Vantage the option to stop keyboard backlight be set to automatic at startup? I.e. keyboard backlight to be set to OFF at startup.

Actually I do not mind if backlight flashes a bit at start up. I mind about the afterwards - when I slightly touch a key, currently the keyboard backlight turns on.

Re:How to disable backlit keyboard on startup?

Welcome to Lenovo Community Svilen_Velikov,

Thank you for your feedback. I understand your concern about the keyboard backlight behavior. Unfortunately, the option to disable the automatic activation of the backlit keyboard on startup might not be available in all Lenovo laptop models.

We value your feedback, and rest assured that Lenovo is working hard to continuously improve our products and services based on user feedback.

In the meantime, you may want to check if there are any updates available for your Lenovo Vantage app or your laptop's BIOS that might include additional settings or improvements. You can do this by visiting the Lenovo Support website here.
