Lenovo IdeaPad S340-14IIL Screen Faulty

My sons screen has gone like the attached; Lenovo sign hardly visible with many multi-coloured horizontal lines - is this a driver issue, does the screen need replacing and if so, is this easy to do?  The laptop is only 34 months old so its really annoying being out of warranty.

Re:Lenovo IdeaPad S340-14IIL Screen Faulty S/N MP1R3PP8

Hello,

I would take the machine to a local PC Repair technician, perhaps one attached to a store also selling a variety of new equipment, and ask for advice.

Regarding repair, it MIGHT BE as simple as unplugging and reinserting appropriate connector.

If you can access BIOS settings screens, usually pressing F2 just before Lenovo Logo appears probably spamming it.

Then reset defaults save and exit.  (If lines are present upon BIOS setting screens, consult your local PC technician for advice.)

Make your economic choice regarding repair/replace.   As time progresses lesser capability equipment today is perhaps more capable than more expensive equipment was 36 months ago.....

Re:Lenovo IdeaPad S340-14IIL Screen Faulty

Greetings.

Hi @CentreKingdom.

First and foremost, apologies to read that your device has an issue with the display.

I would likewise agree with @Usedtoberich, might be best that you reach out to the technical department team or on the nearby service facility so they can create a ticket on it or check the machine in person and offer service if available.

I'm just chiming in as well for some additional information if in case that you might be interested in looking for the compatible part for your LCD. You can find the FRU PN of the LCD screen of your laptop on parts look up site. Here are the steps.

- Go to https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/partslookup
- Type the serial number of your laptop
- You can also type your complete machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK or 20UD000BUS) on the search bar
- Hit enter and that will take you to the Product Home page for your system
- Click on Parts Tab on the left side of page, then click on the Model Tab or on the Compatible Tab
- Under the Compatible Tab or the Model Tab, you will find the 'Commodity Type' option
- Under Commodity Type, you will see a lot of key words that are related to the computer parts
- Choose 'LCD panel' for the key word of lcd screen
- Other key words that pertain to a different part will be open there for you to explore, try it out
- The results will show what is the OEM compatible screen for your unit
- You will also see the photo of the part and the FRU PN (field replacement unit part number) or simply known as 'part number'
- Use the FRU PN (field replacement unit part number) to check the availability of this screen in some parts resellers or aftermarket in your regions

Re:Lenovo IdeaPad S340-14IIL Screen Faulty

Hi All,

Thank you for all your advice; bizarely I was able to get into the sytem past the faulty screen, by crashing the computer, then pressing the 'power' button and the F1 button at the same time.  I think the screen that came up was perhaps BIOS.  After this, I crashed again and could then run as many updates as I could, to clean up any issues; the screen and the PC are now working perfectly well.

Could this have just been a glitch within?  Not sure, but for now all is well.

Thanks for your help,

Anthony
