Re:Can i upgrade L340-15IRH Gaming Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81LK RAM?

Hi Shukonee,

According to the product specification sheet of the L340-15IRH, the general memory information of this model shows:

Memory Slots
• One memory soldered to systemboard, one DDR4 SO-DIMM slot, dual-channel capable
• One DDR4 SO-DIMM slot

Max Memory
• Up to 16GB (16GB SO-DIMM) DDR4-2400 offering
• 4GB soldered memory, not upgradable

Generally, on a L340-15IRH, there is a 4GB soldered to a board and one slot available to upgrade the RAM capacity.

Checking on the parts look up site using your machine type model shows the available OEM memory that you can go for. On the Compatible tab, filter the Commodity drop down to memory. Examples are:

Part number  5M30V06924  SoDIMM,8GB,DDR4,2666,Kingston
Part number  01AG864         SODIMM,8GB,DDR4,2666,HYNIX

A picture here shows the highlighted part on the memory slot.

I hope this helps.

I would recommend that it would be better to have this upgrade done by a professional technician available near you, if you have no capabilities yet to personally upgrade the memory.

Regards.

Hello Shukonee,

Greetings.

We can check the specifications of the machine for you first is you share the machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK) from the sticker as it would help us detail more about your machine variant. The machine type model / MTM consists of more than four characters.

Update us soon as convenient.

Regards.

I can't find the MTM but i found my Serial Number: ******** and Product Number: 81LK00HQID. Another question: does my laptop have a RAM slot available or i have to change the old one?

Edit notes: Removed SN for member's protection. Machine Type Model:81LK00HQID -spidey101

Hi Shukonee,

The product specification sheet details a general information of the model. "4GB memory soldered to systemboard" means that some variants of this model has 4GB RAM soldered to the motherboard.

Checking on your systemboard using the machine type model, there is a 8GB currently installed to your ram slot. You can replace this 8 GB RAM with 16GB DDR4. You can check for other resellers of memory, like Crucial.

Generally, warranty should not be voided as long as nothing gets damaged during and after the process. It would be best to reach out to the technical support team in your region initially before any steps to check.
