I have the same problem. The laptop is a week old, worked fine. Now the battery light on the side comes on when plugged in, but it won't start.

Flex 2 stuck in sleep mode

2015-01-11, 16:59 PM

Hello i've had my Flex 2 14 for just over 2 months, i stopped using it one evening and it went into sleep mode. The next day coming back to turn it on the power light is flashing like its in sleep mode but it won't turn on.

Unplugging the charger stops the flashing but when i press the power button again it resumes flashing and won't respond to any of my attempts to turn it on.

The battery is sealed inside so i can't remove it and try that method to get it to wake up. i've also done the tried and tested press and hold the button and scrolling on the mousepad but nothing wakes it up. Does anyone know what can cause this problem and if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this issue please let me know.  i'd greatly appreciate any and all suggestions.

Thank you for your time in advance :).

I am having pretty much the same issue. I got the computer in December. This week I was using it and it just went to sleep. I did a hard shutdown and now it just hangs at the Welcome screen.

I've tried that yeah but it just doesn't turn on and its stuck in what I can only describe as perma sleep mode. There must be someone who has some idea as to what could cause this issue and help us.

After shutting down and restarting for a day with no improvement. I charged it completely, shut it down and left it alone for a day. When I started it up again, I was able to log on and get past the Welcome screen. I looked at my update and software history and decided to uninstall Java, which was one of the last updates. I set my computer to never sleep and have not had any issues so far. When I have more time I am going to check the BIOS and Windows updates. There's a huge Windows 8.1 update in the queue that I have not installed yet (KB3000850).

Does pressing and holding the power button not shut it down?

Unplugging the battery doesn't seem too bad on the Flex 2:

Not sure why it wants you to remove the keyboard and optical drive though.

I have this problem too - and pressing and holding the power button doesn't shut it down.

Looking at the manual, the only items customers are allowed to remove/replace is the keyboard and the optical drive - anything else would seem to invalidate the warranty....including the battery which is v. inaccessible.

Help!

Re: Flex 2: stuck in sleep/battery led doesn't turn on

I am investigating customer reports of Flex 2 14 and 15 laptops going into sleep mode and not powering up afterward.

I was hoping you could help me with my investigation. I would like to know if it is happening on your Flex 2 14 or 15, if the laptop successfully recovers and powers up at any time later, or if there is any other action taken to recover the laptop. I would also like to know if it was sent in for service and what action was taken.

Thank you for your assistance,

I have a Flex 2-15 and I'm having this problem this morning.  It went to sleep, and the power light is slowing flashing, but nothing will wake it up. The unit is two weeks old.
