Flex 4-1480 not auto detecting external monitor

2019-07-17, 16:22 PM

Have an Ideapad Flex 4-1480 that is not detecting external monitor. This issue started occuring last few days. I have uninstalled the Intel HD graphics 620 display adapter multiple times and updated the driver. However the Intel driver update advises the driver is a custom build from Lenovo and needs updated there. Lenovo tells me the driver is most current. I confirmed the HDMI cable is good. The monitor when connected will "power on" looking for the display signal but then goes to sleep when it does not find one. I can manually detect the monitor through the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel and the monitor will work. I can not do so through the system display settings. (right click desktop; display settings)

In that case, use the Intel software to change it. Try pressing Windows+P and choose one of the options. Most devices don't automatically output to external devices, so it isn't a surprise that it also doesn't do that in your case.

I have a flex-1580 signature edition and it is not detecting the external monitor via the hdmi port. It is however recognizing via the usb port. Is this the same problem that you have? I am running Windows 10 and a AMD radeon graphics.

Everything is up to date appearantly and nothing works. This occured right after I did an update on my computer actually.

Did you have any luck fixing it?
