Flex 5-1570 Touchscreen not working

2021-06-05, 10:39 AM

Sometime in the last month, the touchscreen on my Flex 5-1570 (81CA) stopped working.

The device shows in device manager, I have uninstalled and reinstalled it but it is still not responding to touch.

Device Manager General tab says This Device is Working Properly.

Then pen IS working correctly.

Is there a stand-alone diag or a Linux distro w/ touch screen anyone can recommend to make the HW/SW problem determination?  Any newer/better drivers (using the latest Wacom download)?

Suspecting either a loose cable or a Windows update issue.

One additional detail from the device manager Events tab:

Device HID\WCOM50E8&Col01\5&11e08167&6&0000 was configured.

Hi RCG2021,

Not sure if the bootable Linux diagnostics offer one for the touchscreen here:

https://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/downloads/ds028698-lenovo-diagnostics-bootable-usb-create-it-on-windows-os-desktops-notebooks-workstations

Since it worked previously then rolling back drivers in both pen and display drivers may help.

Isn't giving me the roll back drivers as an option -- will look at the bootable Linux tool right now; thanks for the pointer.

The Leonvo stand-alone diag didn't have touch screen as part of it (and it very, very simplistic - not what I'd call a real diag package) BUT that's exactly the type of tool I'm looking for -- something that rules out Windows.

Wacom Pen and Wacom Tablet come up in the control panel, run, but then Wacom says "no tablet detected".

Suspect either the cable to the touch screen or the touch screen itself which assumes that the Pen hardware is different as that is working.

Thanks anyway - there was a moment of hope there.

Hi RCG2021

Greetings.

You may also try to run down some basic troubleshooting here.

There is also at times that a simple driver rollback from the device manager to include display driver may help restore previous function specially with related Windows update.

The same goes with checking on newer drivers and updating chipsets and display drivers from the support site.

Regards,

Dex
