Re:I can't enter bios with F2/ fn+F2

Welcome to the Community Forums @KiraZ,

Greetings.

Have you tried checking if the F2 hotkey function would work within Windows system?

Another way to boot the BIOS is through the Novo button: https://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/solutions/ht062552-introduction-to-novo-button-ideapad

If you power up the machine through power button, rapidly tap on F2 so you can reach BIOS.

Lastly, try to check if your current BIOS version of your machine matches the recommended BIOS version uploaded on the support site. On the support site: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/, type the machine serial number (S/N) on the search bar. Hit enter to search the details regarding that unit. Click on the Drivers and Software tab, head to the Manual Update tab. Compare if your current BIOS version is the same as the one on support site.

Regards.
Dex

Re:I can't enter bios with F2/ fn+F2

Not sure if your problem is similar to mine.  I recently acquired ThinkStation P360.  It won't display Lenovo logo or even enter into Bios setup by pressing F1 or Fn+F1.  Except that, it did.  The monitor needed to be connected to Mini-DP port.  I wish Lenovo did a better job of documenting this feature (I mean bug.)  Connecting the monitor to Mini-DP port displays Lenovo logo and pressing F1 enters into Bios setup and I can now even see it.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your insights. I'm pretty sure there are huge differences between mechanism of Thinkpad and Ideapad.

Hi @Nadid89.

Apologies to read that your machine is having a similar issue.

If you will enter the BIOS through some suggestions above how to access it, what would show up on your screen?

Would your device boot straight to Windows? Maybe sharing a little background on your device would help us too, if you wish members of the community to effectively share and exchange any insights from them.

Feel free to reply anytime.

Regards.

Re:I can't enter bios with F2/ fn+F2

Dear Dex,

from windows (settings, update, recovery, advanced start) I can open the bios (uefi settings) with no issue.

if I shutdown my notebook, from F2 or F12 (for boot), after power up, my pc freeze and nothing happens.

If windows crash and we need to open bios or boot menu, we can't and we are locked out from our systems.

this is a serious bug and we need a fix.

please share this thread with lenovo engineer for a check.

Hi Nadid89,

I understand your concern and I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing.

In the meantime, I would recommend you to try resetting the BIOS to its default settings. You can do this by entering the BIOS through Windows (settings, update, recovery, advanced start), then inside the BIOS Set Up, navigate to the Exit Menu. Select Load Setup Default - click Enter, select YES and click Enter. Select Exit and Save Changes then click Enter, select YES and click Enter.

If the issue persists, best to consider contacting our technical support team for further assistance. You can submit a service request for technical support here.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best regards.

Re:I can't enter bios with F2/ fn+F2

Hi @StefE.

Sorry to read that you are also experiencing the same issue.

I wonder if your device is also the same as the original poster? Is it Lenovo Ideapad 3 15ADA05 to be exact?

Did the BIOS update come from an app called Lenovo Vantage app?

Here are other ways to enter BIOS, can you try and check if you can still make it to BIOS other than the F2 key?

- Remove all cables connected to the device (power cable, hdmi, external mouse, external keyboard, etc)
- Be sure device is switched off / powered off
- Press and hold down the power button for 60 seconds
- When done, re-attach all cables
- Attach the  ac adapter and let the unit charge for about couple of minutes
- Locate your machine's Novo button from the either sides. Check this knowledge base showing how it would look like: https://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/solutions/ht062552-introduction-to-novo-button-ideapad
- Click this by using an unfolded paperclip or anything similar that would fit.- Machine should power up and boot straight to Novo Menu.
- Navigate and select using the arrow keys to BIOS Set Up.

Alternative Boot into BIOS from Windows Settings
- Select the Start Menu, then choose Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. Under Advanced startup, select Restart now. After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware settings

So, did you make it to BIOS in testing those suggested steps above?

Regards.
Dex
