Re: Idea Windows based Tablets and Convertibles Shipping Thread

In case anyone was wondering, I ordered a i7/8/256 in Grey from Lenovo on 11/1. Once the shipping date got pushed back to 11/18, I put in multiple calls to get it cancelled, but it never was. Just got an email today (11/18) saying that it shipped (on time!), so I had to call Lenovo and have them reroute the package so that I didn't have to send it back myself. What's even more odd is that I had already cancelled my method of payment, so they shipped the laptop without charging me...

In the meantime I ordered the same laptop from BB when it was in stock for shipping on 11/8 and picked it up on 11/14.

Re: Idea Windows based Tablets and Convertibles Shipping Thread

Just to add to the confusion, here is my experience.   Late evening on Nov. 12, I ordered on line through the "Chat" function texting with someone apparently from India.   He asked if he could help me order and I was debating because of the 4 week claimed delay listed on the product page.   He mentioned that he might get me a discount, so I communicated with him.   He asked who I worked for if that might get me a different discount.   I work for myself, but my wife is a school teacher.   He did not ask where or what school but came back with a discount of slightly over 10%.   I ordered the Clementine Orange i7/ 8gb/ 256 SSD model.    The next day I checked on the order status page and it showed delivery on Dec. 24, almost 6 weeks and a date I thought sounded suspiciously designed to calm buyers hoping for a pre-Christmas delivery.   I checked the status again Thursday and it showed released for manufacture and a delivery date of today, Nov. 18.

It was delivered to my office this morning, Nov. 18, a total of less than 6 full days from the order.   I'm sorry others here have not had the same experience, but it probably is true that they build these in batches according to which components you choose.  The other take away is to ask the people in the pop up chat if there is a discount available.  Perhaps they would come close to matching a BB price.    It is also possible that they put you further up in the line, though he made no such claim.

Now to take it home and try it out tonight.

FYI, Best Buy is getting some Y2P inventory, but it only lasts for a short time on the web site.  I ordered the 8gb I7 Y2P from BB at about 4am Sunday morning for $1199 versus the $1499 at Lenovo when the BB site suddenly had some for 3-5 day delivery to store.  By later Sunday morning they again showed none available.  I happened to check on the status of my order this morning and it now shows shipped to store, and again for about an hour BB had that model for 3-5 day delivery to store, but after that they were out again.

Can someone please explain what is going on with the supply chain?  I ordered a Y2P last week, and was surprised with the initial arrival date of Dec 30th, now it's slipping to Jan 8th.  Almost 2 full months.  That is pretty crazy if you ask me, something must be really wrong.

mscrivo - i think the current trend is that the dates get pushed pretty far back and then they get bumped up. I waited about a month for mine.

Hi Folks,
Not sure what is going on with shipping, but I just got a notice that my order has shipped. Placed the order last night for an i5-8gb-256gb clementine orange unit. Order entry was saying it would be over 4 weeks, so next day shipping is very surprising, but I won't be complaining if it actually happens that way. Time will tell, tracking isn't working yet.

I ordered the exact same unit, from the Canadian site though, so that might be the difference. That, or they just randomly make up shipping dates.

my theory has always been that there is some sorta of equation based on the average time of shipping on previous orders. It seems right now whatever had stalled the orders has been fixed and now they are shipping far quicker.

My Orange Yoga i7/8/256 came in finally. Copied data from my silver one and returned that one back to best buy.
