IdeaPad 330 15IKB (TYPE 81DE) List of Issues

2018-10-20, 5:27 AM

I have bought this laptop just yesterday (19.10.2018) it doesn't have an Windows OS, which causes the issue of installing multiple drivers after OS installation. I list down some of the issues I have faced, Please help resolve them.

  1. Touch pad setting not avalible in the mouse/touchpad properties so we are not able to configure the property. ( I advise using Elan drivers as it does comes with the multitouch features though we cannot configure it, Synaptics drivers doesn't enable the multi touch feature)
  2. After updating the AMD Drivers downloaded from AMD site, the GPU Name got changed (I'm not aware of the config if it got changed )
  3. Does this laptop support Intel Optane memory tech, as it comes with this driver/sw but says that Bios doesn't support this feature.

Thanks in advance.

Hey there, dmanojkmr!

Welcome  to the Lenovo Community Forum!

First of all, we're sorry for the late reply. As we were checking here, some models of the Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15IKB support the Intel Optane Memory. See the full specs here https://www.lenovo.com/ph/en/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-300-series/Ideapad-330-15-Intel/p/88IP3000996?CID=ww:lenovosocial:20x9m6 and https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Lenovo_Laptops/ideapad_330_15_Intel?CID=ww:lenovosocial:20x9m6.

In addition, how did you install the Windows OS on the laptop? What is the version of the Windows OS? There is a possibility that the AMD driver and the touchpad driver are having a conflict with the current Windows OS, that's why it is not working properly.

Regards!

Hello,

The Intel Optane technology is newer and expects the system BIOS to provide services that are not present within the Legacy Bios and disk partition tables.  For Optane to work the OS must be installed with EFI/UEFI Bios active and gpt partition tables.   Most likely the legacy MBR was loaded onto the new hard drive instead of the modern one.  If you are VERY CAREFUL you can convert without reinstalling Windows 10.  Here is the procedure:  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/disk-management/change-an-mbr-disk-into-a-gpt-disk  However, plan for a mishap and backup your user data first.

Good Luck,

Usedtoberich
