IdeaPad 5 15ARE05 - previous BIOS

2021-04-21, 12:19 PM

(sorry for my english)

I bought Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15ARE05 - there was BIOS installed. On system update it showed that there is a newer version of BIOS, so I installed new version. But is it possible now to go back to older version? I don't know what version of BIOS was installed before my upgraade. Can I check somewhere what exactly version of BIOS was originally installed? Thanks

Hi alex23110,

If you have the current BIOS version recommended on the support site then this is how your fan should be working as this is intended by your BIOS. The fan is automatically under control by the BIOS itself along with the chipset. We cannot guarantee a way for downloading a previous version of the BIOS, downloading the version recommended on the support site is the usual fix.

Hello alex23110,

Greetings.

BIOS updates are not entirely necessary as they are optional updates and only done when needed in specific situations. For this case, BIOS cannot exactly be downgraded.

However, you can check the support page and see if the current BIOS version of your machine matches the recommended BIOS version uploaded on the support page.

On the Support page, enter your machine serial number to load the correct drivers, go to Drivers and Software tab, click on Manual Update then look for BIOS/UEFI drivers and counter check the versions.

Regards.

Thank you for reply.

I have correct version of BIOS - E7CN40WW, but with that version fan run very loud. It wasn't that with previous version. Can I ask if I could download the previous version? I need version which was before 27 January 2021 as my shop had this laptop to buy from 27 January so probably that version will be correct...

Thank you very much. So I understand when with new BIOS fan is louder then it's better cooling so the hardware is more protected?
