IdeaPad 720s-13ARR Keyboard Not Working

Today the keyboard on my IdeaPad 720s-13ARR stopped working. None of the keys work, the capslock light will not turn on, none of the function keys work, etc. The only functionality is the power button will turn the PC off and the keyboard backlight can be turned on and off in windows settings.


I've tried uninstalling the keyboard drivers in the device manager, checking for driver updates, and installing windows and driver updates. The hardware diagnostic scan on the lenovo support site says the keyboard test passed despite the ps2 keyboard test being aborted. Result Code:WKB000000-UO7Y0H . The USB keyboard test passes when one is plugged in, that's what I'm currently typing on.


I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue. It happened once a few months ago, but it spontaneously resolved itself after a few reboots. Help!


Edit: after talking with Lenovo support on the phone, holding down the power button for 15 seconds and turning the device back on solved the problem.

Could you try testing all the keys here: https://www.keyboardtester.com/. Should the issue persist, the issue is more likely a hardware problem.
