IdeaPad L340-15IWL Touchpad device settings missing

2019-05-12, 6:51 AM

I would like to mke sure if IdeaPad L340-15IWL supports Touchpad setting.

My Ideapad's Synaptics touchpad device settings tab in the mouse properties dialog is missing.

I believe that there should be a Device Settings tab for the Synaptics touchpad to the right of the hardware tab.

Even using the latest touchpad driver (ver. 19.5.10.24) from the Lenovo site, it doesn't work.

I've tried the old ver. 19.4.18.30 as well, but no success.

Any suggestons?

Hi Darren_Seo!

Welcome to the Community Forums.

There should be a mouse settings in the mouse properties. Click start button, search for mouse and open Mouse properties. If it's still not showing, uninstall the touchpad driver and make sure to delete the driver software. In addition, go to Programs and features to uninstall any Synaptics or touchpad software. Once done, download and install the driver again here, https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/IDEAPAD-L-SERIES-LAPTOP/L340-15IWL-TOUCH/downloads/DS506431. Update us how it goes.

Regards,

Hey,

Check out this LINK. I had a similar problem with my Lenovo.

Try those steps but instead of searching the Mircosoft Store for ETDProperties, search for SynTouchpadApp.

Let me know if this works for you.

PS.

The Utilities and Control Panel Apps are also there.

Hi A_Tommy,

Thanks for your useful information.

However, unfortunatly, SynTouchpadApp uploaded on the Microsoft Store seems to be for LG laptops.

My IdeaPad L340-15IWL failed to download and install SynTouchpadApp.

In addition, I tested Synaptics touchpad contol panel app as well but the results were the same.

Conisidering other apps are downloaded well and working well, it appers to me that SynTouchpad app isn't compatible with IdeaPad L340-15IWL at this moment in time.

Do you have any other idea?

BR,

Darren

Hey guys,

I had the same issue and this helped me today (Win 10 Home):

1. Open the Windows Explorer and search for SynTPCpl.dll.

2. If the file could be found go to the containing folder.

3. Open a powershell window in this folder.

4. In the powershell window type "rundll32 .\SynTPCpl.dll, ShowDevicePropPage 1" (without quotes) and press enter.

The Synaptics settings window will appear telling you several times that there is a version problem. Just click on the "Ok" buttons

and change all your settings now.

Good luck!

Hi,

I have the same issue (device settings tab missing) on my L340-15IRH Gaming with Win 10 Home. And indeed download of ETDproperties app did the trick. ETD app obviously is a replacement for device settings tab and amongst other options enables you to deactivate the touchpad in case a mouse is connected to the system.

Many thanks to community for great help!

Here is the one and only working solution bro.
Just go to this link and click download(green highlighted). https://www.hwdrivers.com/hw_ids/f014594

Dont install it now. first uninstall your current touchpad driver by going to the Device manager>mice and pointing device>synaptics/elan then right click on the driver and click uninstall device and make sure to check delete the current driver (its a small box you have to tick). then restart your laptop and install the downloaded driver version from the given link. Done.
Note:-If the file downloaded unable to extract then use 7 zip https://www.7-zip.org/download.html to extract it.
The solution is really very obscue ....it took me 2 days literally 2 days to figure it out. and yeah lenovo tech support was very pathetic and rude i just realized :)
