Ideapad 1 - max micro SD card size?
I have had no luck figuring out what the max micro SD card size I can use. I want to go as big as possible.
I've looked at every document I can find to no avail.

Hi @TonyStewart,
Thanks for sharing details about your machine.
I checked the PSREF site using your machine type model / MTM and it just shows "card reader".
I found on the user guide (page 3) as well that the microSD card slot simply says, "Insert a microSD card into the slot for data transfer or storage".
Using those references showing details of this particular laptop model does not actually dictate any information what is the maximum SD card size it can read. As to my own personal understanding, knowing that it is branded as a "SD card reader", it implies more likely that the maximum size this card reader can read will depend on what is the standard storage size of microSD cards that should come from your mobile phones.
The specifications sheet does not contain any information about what is the maximum capacity for the fact that this port is only intended to be used for transferring data coming from microSD cards of your mobile phones (and not for inserting high capacity microSD cards that some users intend/want to leave installed, working as storage device).
That's my personal insight for this query.
Regards.
Dex

I've made a little headway on figuring this out.
While I haven't been able to find any specs at all on this, it looks like the controller in the ideapad 1 has a limit of 128 gb but there isn't anything specific anywhere.
My continued research is leading me to believe that 256 gb is the maximium size for the micro sd card on the ideapad 1.
My thought is to move the normal windows folders; documents, photos, downloads, videos to the sd card and use that as a partial HD to make up for the smaller SSD side on the computer.
Hi! Did you ever get a definitive answer on this?
I've been running around in circles with Lenovo & they still can't answer - the engineering team must know so I'm at a loss to understand their inability to clarify.
Thanks!
Greetings @TonyStewart and all.
There are some information about this that you can possibly find on the specifications sheet or also in the user guide of the machine.
If there is no indication of the maximum micro SD card size listed on the specs sheet, then important consideration is to make sure the micro sd card is compatible with the slot.
It would be fruitful that in questions like this is to share your machine model or complete machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK or 20UD000BUS) (from the sticker usually located under the case) on the post right away, so other members may find details regarding your machine.

Hi Dex!
I took the plunge & purchased a 128Gb SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDXC, Class 10, UHS-I, U3, V30 with A2 App Performance. It had a 55% discount so was cost effective relative to the Ideapad purchase price (ideally I'd have tried 256Gb or more but that was cost prohibitive). And it is working faultlessly - I went for a high spec card since, inter alia, I wanted to store & stream DVD copies & other video from it and I'm having no problems with their performance whatsoever.
Thanks for your help & diligence, & I hope that this is of some use to others!
