Re: Ideapad 110 Slow; Brand new

Some of the suggestions in these tutorials should help you speed up your laptop:

How to Optimize the Performance of Windows 10

Master Tutorial to Make Windows 10 Super Fast

Just avoid any suggestions referring to registry tweaks, upgrades, and anything else that can't be undone.

In addition, I would suggest the following:

Uninstall the anti-virus that came with your laptop and go with either Defender or Avast Free. (Mine came with McAfee and it was a resource hog)

Good luck,

Run a few tests from this link -

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/lenovodiagnosticsolutions/tools

You should try Storage test, memory test, motherboard test, CPU test.

Update us how it goes.

The tests all came back ok. Clearly, there is some issue as the computer shouldn't be nearly this sluggish. I am growing more frustrated at this point.

Any other tips or ideas?

Well, you ignored my suggestions and opted to run those tests which i knew would not show anything conclusive.

So, again, I will tell you to read those two articles and do those suggestions you feel most comfortable with.

I also will tell you that you must have things running in the background or your laptop would not be that slow.

My ideapad is blazing fast. I boot to the desktop in 7 seconds.

I just bought a new ideapad 110s at Argos 2 weeks ago. Very intermittent WiFi and slower than a three year old Hudl! However, went to the main support and followed the command prompt solution and now much better.

Let me say that the Lenovo Ideapad 110 that I purchased at Best Buy last Christmas is literally UNUSABLE!! I am surprised that Best Buy even sells it. It is so slow that you will need to drink a beer between screens. I have run updates, hardware scans, and cleaned out logs which by the way because it is SOOOO SLOW it takes forever. The only thing left I can do is do a format, a clean install, and segment the drive.,,,or just go buy another decent laptop

Very late to the game I admit, but theis answer... seriously. the 'Tips' for speeding up involve, clena install windows, remove dust etc assuming the reponder read the title of this post, are you implying Lenovo pcs are sold with old cluttered hard drives and full of dust?

I'll start my own thread about my frustrations, but the response made me fume.

Have to agree with you there. The 110S is terrible. I added a 128GB eMMC SSD and had the geniuses at MS reinstall Win10 onto it since the 32GB internal memory cannot cope with Win10 updates. The MS store guys told me this laptop isn't suitable for Win10 and were surprised that it was even shipped with it as an OS.

As for that generic twaddle about cleaning dust and reinstalling windows - what a totally useless piece of information.

I will look through the other advice here but really I think this wasting my time.

It's a nice looking machine, and super light for travel (which is why I bought it) but almost unusable... shame.
