Thank you

This is what I needed to know. I only have a sata hdd and  I am not planning on instaling an SSD. So I guest my performance, for what I have red, will not change much or not at all.

My goal is to make my laptop bootable from usb pen drive. After some time searching for the answer seems like the only way is to disable intel RST and use AHCI.

To the best of my knowledge there is a User guide that talks about BIOS and accessing it but not a guide to BIOS specifically.  BUT when you enter BIOS on the right hand side it describes the functions as you move through the options.  It will have "Item Specific help" on the right side panel.  Generic user guide is below.

Thank you for your answer.

But I would like to have a more detailed explanation for each option in the BIOS set up screen.

For instance if I want to change the HDD controller from Intel RST to AHCI it shows me a warning that all data will be lost. Would the recovery partition be lost too?

Hey there, jlmonroyhdz!

Another help here. If you change the SATA Controller mode from Intel RST to AHCI, the following will be applied:

1. The data on the OS Partition will be the only one that’s going to be affected. The Recovery partition won’t be lost as it resides on a different sector on the HDD.

2. You won’t be able to boot the preloaded OS due to the change in the SATA controller. You may end up re-installing the OS to correct this.

3. One other thing that’s going to be affected is the read and write of the HDD. If you have the IdeaPad 320s with a M.2 PCIE x4 SSD and you change it to AHCI, the throughput will drop from 3.94 GB/s (PCIe x4) to 2GB/s (SATA) speed.
