Re: Ideapad 330 Ryzen 5 2500u underperforming

Totally agree.  This is a totally ridiculous situation.  I have a 330S and before I applied the hack it was pretty much unusable.  After increasing the limit to 25W it is now a thin and light laptop which performs exceptionally well and can even play recent games at respectable framerates.  I dare say it now even outperforms competitors models that cost twice as much.

It's absolutely crazy that Lenovo aren't doing something about this as a matter of urgency.  Negative reviews are out there which must be seriously hurting sales.  All they have to do is change one value from 15 to 25 and push an update.  I mean, how hard can it be?  The community have figured this out in just a matter of weeks.

Don't even get me started on the dire situation regarding video drivers.

I've had a Lenovo phone for a while (Moto G5plus) so I'm kind of used to by now. Only got Android Oreo in the last month. Their company motto might as well be "Decent hardware with rubbish software support".

Yes you are right, the company doesn't even bother to reply to this thread, the OEM are lazy enough to not give an update, even if there is an update it is most likely of no use.

So out of curiosity I used Aida64 to dump the laptop's DSDT and I couldn't find the extra code in there. So whatever issue I'm having getting the fix to work the edited DSDT isn't getting through.

I purchesed the 330s with a ryzen 2700u for my wife. My parents were also needing a new pc so they purchased the same one but with the 2500u. I was curious how much better performance the 2700u would be so I ran cinebench on them and the performance was nearly identical albiet the 2500u scored slightly better because the 2700u started throttling sooner. I have never done anything like what is being described in this forum but am an IT professional. I am going to attempt this on the 2700u and see how much of a difference it makes. Thank you all for discovering this.

Hello guys.
How does the modified DSDT file enter the system?
As I understand, it is done via USB: / EFI / Clover / Acpi / Windows / modified file.
Is this the right way?

Just use clover on usb drive for testing purpose.

Then, when you sure it's working, don't use clover, just load the dstd to windows with registry on testmode, seems pointless to me to use clover. Maybe with some game's anticheat who don't support testmode

Can someone post the steps of how to load the DSTD to windows using registry on testmode? I've also heard people saying it has certain downsides compared to the clover method but I honestly have no idea.
