Ideapad 33015 ARR slow internet connection and keeps dropping (Wifi)

2018-11-25, 17:31 PM

Hello, i have recently bought a Lenovo ideapad 33015ARR with win10 on it.

For some reason the wifi connection is extremly slow and keeps going up and down for example: ive tried downloading my library on steam (With different DL servers) all i get max. get was 3-4 Mb a second...and it kept dropping to 1mb....went up to 3 and so on.

Ive tried installing the latest drivers, and some settings...nothing...tried the wlan connection on another device wich was working perfectly fine, then i tried to download on other sites and it was the same problem dropped from 1 mb a sec. to 50 kb(!) and back to 1,5MB and so on.

I have a 200 mbits connection (Usually) so its not on the modems site.

maybe someone can help me with this problem.

edit: when running a speedtest on the ideapad i receive 40mb/s, when running the same test on the same site on my phone i receive almost 100mb/s, just connected the Ideapad with a lan connection, got 150mb/s but whener i connect to wifi its only 30-40mb/s...my modem is in my room and not far away from the laptop..

Yeah, 330-15ARR and 330S-15ARR have probably the worst WLAN adapter in the world, alias Realtek QCA9377... So, it's pretty normal, unfortunally.

The good news is that i managed to mitigate this issue by installing the latest drivers from Microsoft Update Catalog. Simply copy its hardware ID from the Device Manager, paste it on Microsoft Update Catalogue searchbox and manually install the latest drivers you find. In my case, it was the 12.0.0.725 one.

Hey, thank you for your help, ive managed to find out the hardware ID (multiple IDs?) and also found some drivers that seem to fit. i have to admit that i dont have any idea on how to install the files from the update catalog, can you explain me how to do that?

Yes, it's pretty simple: extract the .cab file downloaded from Microsoft Update Catalogue with Winrar or any other zip software, then go to Device Manager, uninstall your WLAN adapter, set the aeroplane mode from the notification bar and reboot. After the reboot, go back on Device Manager, right click on the unknown device marked with a yellow "?" and click on update drivers. Then choose the manual update procedure and point to the folder where you extracted the newest drivers.
