Ideapad 330s AMD - crackling/bad audio

Hi there.

On two 330S laptops (home & neighbours) (330S-15ARR Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81FB)....

 

The audio (headphones/speakers) has suddenly turn bad. Hard to explain, the audio sounds like it is "torn". I have examined driver versions, troubleshooting tips, etc.

 

It seems that the common situation is likely a Windows update or a Lenovo software stack update to both laptops.

If I remove the Realtek device & driver, on first subsequent boot, the audio will be fine. But when I reboot, the bad audio returns. I can reproduce the bad audio with simple Windows speaker test or any application. I have recordings of the audio which may help you.

There is very little additional software installed, Office 365, Spotify and so on.

 

 

Has anyone heard of this, any thoughts please?

Lenovo Ideapad 330S-15ARR Model 81FB has distorted audio. It sounds like crackling, or clipping.  I have reinstalled the Realtek driver and it works until the next reboot, then the problem comes back. THought it might be damaged speakers, but same problem with headphones.  

 

Looking for some help...

Update:  I uninstalled the Realtek Driver (6.01.8358 dated 9-13-18) from the Realtek(R)Audio device.   After reboot, I noticed Windows installed a Microsoft driver (10.0.19041.264 dated 5-9-2020) and the crackling was gone, and the driver remains even after reboots. Problem solved.
