2021-06-19, 16:24 PM

Hi, I bought my Lenovo Ideapad 15ITL05 just a couple of days ago I am very much satisfied with the device but currently I am facing an issue while playing games despite the charge plugged in the laptop battery is draining? Can anyone suggest any causes for this issue and how to fix them?

Hi PC_user125,

I think there is a certain battery drain on most laptop as part of the battery protection features.

This would depend on how much (percentage).

Perhaps you can detail specific scenarios and amounts of charge and drains.

Hi, this occurred while playing a game , the battery drain was only 5-10% per hour. This hasn't happened to me while using previous laptops this is why I am a bit worried.

Hi @PC_user125

In addition to the previous response above, this can be expected as gaming nowadays would require extensive features for best experience.

With updated BIOS (you can try to update from support site) and drivers then it maybe expected, but I guess this will not be the case if the games are set in the lowest settings.

Regards.

Still I think this is an aberrant behavior, as it does not occur on other laptops. To clarify the game being tested was FarCry 4 which is a 7 year old game (not particularly demanding by today's standards). Lenovo should look into this issue and resolve it.

Note: I have updated everything via the lenovo vantage software, so I don't necessarily think BIOS update will resolve it. Plus last time I manually updated my BIOS through the lenovo website, my laptop crashed and I had to recover it.

Hi,

Newer models does employ added features that may not be available in older ones. It is expected that more power are exhausted greater than regular usage for a non-gaming machine.

I don’t think 5-10% per hour is a remarkable value to say that there is an actual hardware failure/issue. But in case you are in doubt, then we do hope fellow users of the same model can share their experience too.
