Ideapad 530s - display driver stops working

My daughter's Ideapad, barely 4 months old, has frequent problems with the WiFi adapter. Now its display driver also acts up. Device Manager shows this:

 

My English translation: An error occurred, and this device stopped. Code 43. . One symptom is the screen's brightness, which stays at the highest level and can't be changed.

 

A reboot fixes the problem. Windows and Lenovo driver software are up to date.

 

Are there ways to troubleshoot the problem further? When this happens more often, would Lenovo consider repairing or replacing the computer under guarantee?

Are you using Windows 10 v1903 ?

 

Could it be related to this problem?  It mentions the brightness control bug, but not the error you are witnessing.

If there is a 'c:\windows.old' folder, you may be able to roll back to previous version of Windows 10 to fix your wifi and graphics problems.

If the driver version for your Intel® UHD Graphics 620 adapter is not version: 26.20.100.6912 (Latest) Dated: 6/19/2019, then I would update to the latest driver via Intel's website

 

Intel® UHD Graphics 620 for Microsoft Windows® 10-64  May 2019 Update (1903)

 In order to install the latest Intel DCH driver, you must first switch to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, or you will be told to use the driver from your OEM (Lenovo)

 

Before starting, download the latest Intel DCH driver for your graphics adapter using the link above if you have not already, and disconnect any external monitors for the time being.

  •  Right-click on Start and select Device Manager
  • Click on "Display Adapters" to expand, and then double-click on your Intel HD Graphics adapter

  • Select the Driver tab -> "Update Driver" -> "Browse my computer for driver software" -> "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"

  • Select “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter”

  • Click “Next” (note that you screen resolution will likely change) when it switches to the basic driver)

  • Close Device Manager

You should now be able to install the latest Intel DCH driver downloaded earlier successfully.   

 

If you run into any problems, you can always go back to the older Lenovo version (currently version 24.20.100.6287 dated 19 Nov 2018).
