I have the same problem with my laptop. When unplugged it randomly shuts down regardless of how much charge the battery has. It's extremely annoying. Any ideas?

Hi Markymark! Are you experiencing overheating as well? Could you send to us the screenshot of the temperature? Have you tried updating the BIOS? If not, you can download it here: https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en. Provide the serial number and go to Drivers and Software tab. Don't forget to choose the correct operating system before downloading it. Update us with the result.

Ok. so tried all these suggestions and none of them work. I'm so dissapointed with Lenovo, I will almost certainly never purchase their products again. Sent three service ticket requests and received nothing back.

If all steps didn't fix it, we recommend reaching out to our phone support for repair options. You can contact them here, https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist.

Re: Ideapad 700 turning off randomly

Hello everyone,

I had the same problem as you with my 700-15ISK. After checking all the components for any faults ( charger, hdd, ssd, fans, temperature sensors) and after using AIDA 64 for cpu stress test the laptop worked under load with no problem. However when trying to stress test the Nvidia GPU the shutdowns occur in the first 5 minutes ( not normal ones but cuts of power for the entire system) which should not occur normally. Usually this types of shutdowns occur when the Main Board fails to delived the required power  to the GPU. ( event viewer just shows unexpected shutdown). My guess is that after being used for some time, the transistors and the power rails start to degrade so I would not sugges to anyone to change the battery as in these cases it brings no change to the problem (theoretically). After trying several of your suggestion I came to the conclusion that the only possibility for the GPU to work normally under load is to undercloak it and it actually worked. I used MSI Afterburner (I find it more trustworthy than the Nvidia app) with the clock frequency reduced by 30MHz and the memory frequency by 15 MHz. I tested it yesterday by playing KSP and it worked flawlessly for around 3 hours without interruption. Sure it will reduce the capacity of the GPU by a little bit ( even though with KSP i noticed just 2-3 fps drop but still have to test it out). zi will carry out tests today to determine the limit of the GPU power delivery but I guess this is dependent on each system. I would not suggest to test it out to often as the voltwge spikes when the power cuts out might cause damage to the processor. Use AIDA 64 as it is reliable and clean up your PC first because maybe the problem.underlies with the unability of the fans to cool down the system.

Bios update fixed this problem for me. U also might have a connection problem from the battery to the main board but it is highly unlikely.
