Don't really understand how this differs from the Restore Point thing that you guys advised earlier. That didn't fix anything.

Hello Bubams!

Excellent point about system restore. Uninstall the fingerprint driver again then download the fingerprint driver from our support website: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/700-series/720s-14ikb/downloads and run the .exe file to reinstall the drivers. If still persists, you can do a factory reset. Lenovo has a preloaded software which allows users to easily reset settings to factory default. Here's how: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht077084. If this is still not going to fix it and the machine is still in warranty, please call support to set up service: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/SupportPhoneList (filter by country).

Hi,

Not sure why, but this time uninstalling the driver seems to work. Been trying it out successfully for a few days now without a problem.

I uninstalled the driver and deleted the one on my computer while doing it through Device Manager.

Then I installed the new driver with the one I downloaded from the Lenovo support website.

EDIT: Well, I take it back. The second I shut down my computer the same issue came back. Had been using my laptop just by closing the lid and letting it go to sleep.

Unfortunately yes. Thought of sending it for repairs. Maybe the fingerprint sensor is broken or something.

Really disappointted with the quality of Lenovo.

I have the same issue with the same laptop model since forever... have called support and got the same solution...

I tried

1. Deleting the driver and restarting.

2. Reinstalling the driver.

3. resetting to factory settings.

The fingerprint sensor works for a time then goes back to the same problem a day or a few restarts after. I think it's a compatibility issue/ driver issue for which lenovo cannot determine the cause.  Truly disappointed for such a good device.

I would reset it once again, not connect it to WiFi during initial setup and disable automatic driver updates in the Windows Control Panel and the Lenovo Vantage tool. This problem is actually very common and apparently linked to newer broken drivers. I think this problem with this exact model also appeared on the German Lenovo forum and driver-related issues were the common consensus.

That bios version (6LCN25WW) is for Type (Type 81BD). Mine is (Type 80XC) . It is still touch and go. Uninstalling/Deleting the driver and restarting used to work for days before the problem returns but now in just a matter fo minutes, the fingerprint scanner fails.

Tried to install the new BIOS but noticed that my battery doesn't charge anymore for some reason after it ran out of juice.

Vantage says that the battery is on poor condition after only 118 cycles and kept on coservation mode all the time. It even says it can still charge 85% of its original capasity but nothing happens. And of course the 1Y battery warranty just ran out.

These consumer class Lenovos really are a piece of crap nowadays.

So I can't install the BIOS because my battery died.
