Is it possible to upgrade my Lenovo Ideapad 330-15IKB (81DE008PIN) with 8gb rab and SSD

2020-06-29, 21:18 PM

The subject line says everything but to explain in detail. I'm currently using my Laptop for application development and also for gaming and sometimes I observe apps getting crashed or goes not not responding and at every boot it takes more time to load. So, after I'm very fascinated about the SSD performance I want my Laptop to get upgraded with extra ram and SSD if possible.

Now I want to know is it possible with my model laptop.

Hi venky_vc02,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Yes it is possible to replace your current 4GB with 8GB ram that makes a total of 12GB for your system as suggested by OEM for upgrade.

MTM 81DE008PIN have 4GB soldered on-board and one additional slot that currently have 4GB ram stick.

Other variants have this combination as shown here in the Product Specification Reference.

Officially, 12GB would be the OEM offered max total (for those with 4GB soldered ram boards) while other fellow member did manage placing 16 GB on the slot to make a total of 20GB like on this discussion.

Same goes with the SSD but it means replacing current HDD with another SATA 2.5 7mm SSD like those here in parts lookup (filter Commodity list to Solid State Drive).

You may also filter the Commodity list to Memory for checking OEM recommended RAM.

You are not limited to OEM parts and brands as long as the basic specs matches with your choice.

Here is also the manual for the steps as added reference.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Yeah its's easy to do i suggest you to find a 16gb kit on amazon, check first if your OEM is limited to 16gb max or 32gb. And i suggest you buy a sata to 3.0usb cable so you can clone your hard drive or if not you can just start out fresh and install windows ten using a USB with windows 10 in it, hope this helps. Here are some of the things i used for upgrading my lenovo ideapad 300. I even added another hard drive and replaced my old optic drive for another 1 tb of internal memory.
