LENOVO Ideapad 330S-15ARR / 7WCN36WW Bios Issue

2019-07-05, 7:29 AM

Hello everyone!

Bios Version: 7WCN36WW

I made the BIOS update for the most up to date version of the 330S-15ARR and the following errors appear when trying to access and save some configuration in the BIOS:

Is it possible to solve this? for the little that I understand can not go back or give?

I hope someone can help me, unfortunately I did not find anything related to this version, thank you all for the attention!

I read that about a few Lenovo BIOSes, and the solution is most likely to wait for a new BIOS update as far as I know. You can open up the device, disconnect the BIOS battery and the main battery, press the power button 20-30 seconds to completely discharge the entire motherboard. That resets the BIOS, maybe it helps.

Opening up a device will most certainly NOT void your warranty. I have never heard that.

Same issue here !

Does reflashing the BIOS using the trick described here

forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/BIOS-settings-could-not-be-saved-on-W530/ta-p/2076479

That is use WinFlash64.exe -patch -cvar from the BIOS folder in admin mode. Since installing the same BIOS is usually blocked, could this work ?

It most likely wouldn't as these are specific to the BIOS it is being performed on, also these files are not available for anything but ThinkPad devices, so you won't get it working.

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to try the command line options but of course with the BIOS suited to my PC. I just tried Winflash64.exe with -v (verification) option and at the end of the execution, it says the BIOS to be flashed is the same as the one installed, so it won't go any further. Usually the trick is to change the relevant Bios setting to allow previous BIOS to be flashed but here the BIOS won't save settings. I am stuck between either getting a more recent BIOS or trying to open the PC (not that easy) and removing main battery & CMOS battery, no reason this is going to be easy...

Hi,

I had an exchange with Lenovo support. In my case, the solution is either to wait for a new BIOS or return it for servicing. I have chosen to wait since, apart from that, the PC is running fine.

That's what I would've expected. Since it is working fine, the best option is to wait. Why send it in to maybe get another model with the same problem?
