Re:Laptop not entering BIOS anymore.

Hello,

Good to hear, now something is happening as I expected.   :)

When you attempt to install the latest bios as supplied by Lenovo support site, I expect it to fail and not install.   Your system is in legacy bios mode.

If it does fail follow this process to return it to UEFI mode:   https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/disk-management/change-an-mbr-disk-into-a-gpt-disk

Ideapads are manufactured to meet a low pricing target.  Lenovo in order to save development costs and allow a profitable low price  no longer validates they work at all under Legacy mode.  Microsoft Windows 10 is also not validated to work at all under Legacy and also the latest distributions of Linux....

You mentioned you have two disks installed, follow the convert to gpt process for BOTH disks, and for the disk you do NOT want to boot from, use the Linux dd command to write zeroes to the first 3 or 4 cylinders and unset the bootable flag.  Then of course that disk will need to be reformatted.

Lastly, when entering bios the system expects that immediately prior to this an orderly shut down occurred.   The power button does NOT invoke orderly shutdown under Windows or Linux.  Use the mouse and select "shutdown" or "Power Off."   The various sleep, hibernate, suspend modes also block access to changing bios.

Good Luck!

Okay,

On save and exit page of BIOS, select Restore Factory settings and optimize for OS.   Again, always use mouse and shutdown commands.

Then is it in UEFI mode?

Yes, changed to UEFI mode.

Loaded default settings in bios ( no "factory reset" option, just load default settings ) and tried flashing again, also in bios it says i have the same version i downloaded from lenovo, so i m up to date.

also still not working, F2 cant get me into bios

I think at this point i should just send it to lenovo since the laptop is in warranty

Okay,

So your goal is to be able to enter BIOS if no functioning Windows is present.

Here is the official instruction from Lenovo :  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht500216-recommended-way-to-enter-bios-ideapad

Step 4 of using the function key method says sometimes it takes more than one attempt.  I have Ideapad 330 with Insyde brand BIOS.  I think pressing the f2 or fn + F2 repeatedly and rapidly is most effective, and waiting for the lenovo logo to display before pressing the key is too late.  There are maybe 3 seconds where the function key is recognized right after pressing power on button.  Your BIOS may be from a different vendor, and behave differently than mine.

When it was working correctly, i would start the laptop and spam f2. It always entered, now no key combination works
