Lenovo 500s 14ISK battery won't charge weird blinking pattern

2021-06-02, 19:59 PM

My battery won't charge, the charger LED is blinking weird, it has a pattern 1-1-2-2-1-1--.. (where 1: one slow white light, and 2: 2 fast white light)
The computer works with the battery but not charging. When I put the charger in the OS charging icon constantly switches to charging/not charging

Welcome to the Community Forums dezsip88,

Good to have you here. Try to isolate the issue first if this could be a hardware related issue.

Initiate a static drain or power drain: make sure that the device is in powered-off state. Disconnect all cables and/or peripheral devices connected to the machine (ex. power cable, hdmi cable, external mouse/keyboard, flashdrives, etc). Press and hold down the power button for as long as 60 seconds to drain flea power or excess voltage. The machine is meant to remain turned off after holding power key.

Power up the device again and uninstall the battery drivers from Device Manager.

- The following are steps in order to generate/initiate a Battery Report in Windows.
- Right-click on the Windows Icon in the bottom-left corner of desktop and select "Search".
- Launch the command prompt, by typing "cmd" into the search bar, right-click the program showing up and then choose "Run as Administrator".
- Put these in the blinking curse: "powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery_report.html" into the command prompt window. Exclude the 1st and 3rd quotations.
- Using Explorer navigate to C:\ aka the root directory. You should see a file labeled battery_report.html.

Try to check as well if the current BIOS version of your machine is the same as the recommended BIOS version uploaded on the support site. Check your BIOS version first, then counter check it on the BIOS version uploaded on the support site if the two matches. Go to Drivers and Software tab > Manual Update tab.

Let us know when convenient.

Regards.
Dex

Thanks for your reply. The BIOS was not up-to-date, I updated it, but it didn't help. The battery is now drained to zero, and not charging at all, even when it is turned off, now the indicator led isn't even flashing when I put the charger cable in..

Hi dezsip88,

It appears that the problem might be related to the battery of the unit. It would be best to reach out to the technical team for further recommendation, if you wish to keep the machine within your reach, you can try to reach out to a nearby service facility to have the machine checked for you.

Regards.
