Hi Laurin1111111,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

IdeaPad 320 14IKB are offered in variants.

Best if you can share the MTM (ex. 80XG0004UK) so we can identify more on your systemboard in detail.

Update us soon as convenient.

Regards

Hi Laurin1111111,

Checking the MTM from parts lookup shows that you have no soldered ram on the motherboard.

The current single slot is also occupied by a 16GB DDR4 slot which is the max supported ram for the model too.

This 16GB would also show in the BIOS and in Windows if you check back your machine.

Regards

Re:Lenovo IdeaPad 320 14IKB MODEL 80YF RAM SLOTS/UPGRADE

Spidey, Man, I wish I had 16gbs of ram, In a new search I found out I have 4gb sordered to the motherboard and 1slot free, so I opened the notebook today and I think its true.

Gonna attach some photos.

I'm asking cause I'm really noob when it comes to laptops but that slot on the photo is free, right? Would it be better to get another 4gb ram (4+4) or upgrade to + 8gbs. Would I have problems running one 4gb RAM and another 8gb RAM?

Also, should I worry with the rust near the fan? How do I remove it?

Best regards, bro!

Hi Laurin1111111,

Greetings.

I am not sure why 80YF004BR shows differently from Lenovo parts lookup for available RAM but based from the image of you board does show 4GB soldered to it.

If it does not have any ram on the single slot when you opened it, then adding another DDR4 ram will help the performance.

Observing how upgrades from fellow members in the Community, you can place 4GB (dual channel on both, total of 8GB) or 8GB (with one stick doing dual channeling through flex technology, total of 12GB) and even 16GB (making a total of 20GB) like offered by resellers.

Frequency is not specific as most are supported and just downclocks to the lowest and would still work ok.

The choice depends on your need so if you check the task manager with all your needed apps, then you can approximate how much ram usage is expected.

Rust on the fan would not affect the performance but sanding it a little carefully managing the particles off.

Regards
