Officially on Lenovo's website it says that it supports up to 12GB of RAM, so you can add one 8GB 2133MHz DDR4 SODIMM (2400MHz and 2666MHz RAM will clock down to 2133MHz and work as well)

That said, there are many owners who claim to have added 16GB to their systems for a total of 20GB of RAM (see this thread), but I cannot confirm that personally, and it could vary by processor/chipset.

Crucial (Micron) is a good source of RAM, and they have a free scanner online that will scan your system and recommend RAM that will work properly in your system.

Crucial Memory Scanner

Best of luck,

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 310-15IKB Ram Upgrade

Hi

Welcome to Community Forums!

According to the Specification of Ideapad 310-15IKB ( with MTM: 80TV /80SM /80SN /80TW /80ST ) as shown on the photo below, the MAX RAM tested by Lenovo on this model is 12GB thus, you can replace the 4gb as a chip to 8GB.

That will not limit you though from going beyond the MAX RAM especially that other reseller claims that the Max that will work on this model is 20GB. just make sure to check on the return options of the reseller so you can have it returned in case it will not work for you.

Compatible Type of memory for this model are DDR4 2133MHz SoDIMM DDR4 2400MHz SoDIMM and DDR4-2666MHz SODIMM ( the higher the frequency the faster ).

Click here ( page 38 )for the Hardware Manual as your reference in replacing the RAM Stick on your computer

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 310-15IKB Ram Upgrade

Just to clarify, there will be no speed benefit from buying RAM faster than 2133MHz.

The RAM soldered on the system/motherboard is 2133MHz, so regardless of whether you buy 2400MHz or 2666MHz RAM, the system will clock it down to 2133MHz anyway, so there is no speed benefit for buying one over the other.

Cheers,
